Neurofeedback is a scientifically recognized method used worldwide to measure and improve brain activity. During neurofeedback training, measuring electrodes are attached to the outside of the head. By measuring brain activity, an EEG (electroencephalogram) is generated. The patient himself does not feel anything from the EEG recording. The EEG measures all relevant brain waves and forwards them to a computer. A special computer program divides the brain waves into frequency ranges. All important data is measured in real time and made visible to the patient in the form of a video as a feedback on his brain activity. Optimal brain waves can be differentiated from stressfull ones. As soon the patient reacts with stressfull brain activity the video stops until the brain activity goes back to more efficient frequencies. This optimizes brain waves and increases the ability to concentrate, attention and focus.
Neurofeedback Is a very effective method to train your brain. However, you need 20-30 sessions, 1-2 sessions / week.

If you would like to make an appointment for your child, you can book in our online calendar under Neurofeedback "1st session: Intro and reference measurement". You are welcome to attend, ask questions and see how neurofeedback works. For further sessions, it is beneficial if your child is alone. Of course you are able to wait for your child outside in the office. However, we need your consent in the form of a signature that you, as the legal guardian, agree that we are allowed to carry out this procedure with your child. If you have separated custody, we need the signature of the legal guardian. To make this easier, you can also download the required document here and bring it already signed to the first session.
Minimum age: preschool age
Our neural activity is mainly regulated by the neuronal messenger substances dopamine and norepinephrine. If there are too few of them, the brain is under-stimulated. Both messenger substances are important for maintaining a relaxed focus and concentration. Children with AD(H)D try to compensate for this under-stimulation by mostly unconsciously generating stimulations such as hyperactivity or restlessness in order to regain mental equilibrium. This can be compared to trying to concentrate on a boring task after a long night. Concentration is only possible under extremely high neuronal brain frequencies and such high frequencies are energetically very strenuous and cannot be sustained over long periods of time.
According to numerous clinical studies, neurofeedback is one of the most efficient training methods for AD(H)D and has already enabled many children to learn better and more efficiently. In many cases the medication could be reduced or even stopped completely. Neurofeedback supports the brain so that it learns in a natural way to use more efficient brain frequencies that are in the range of relaxed attention. With the help of video feedback, frequencies that are too high and too low are made "uninteresting". Instead, the frequencies for relaxed focus and concentration are rewarded and thus trained.
Long-term positive effects can be achieved with just 20-30 sessions.
Parents can participate in the first neurofeedback session, but for the following sessions it is recommended that the child practices allone with the trainer. If you have any questions, please book one of our online information evenings or book a first "get-to know" neurofeedback session in our online calendar.
Numerous scientific studies clearly indicate that neurofeedback training can reduce drugs such as Ritalin or antidepressants or even stop them altogether.
Similar to exercise, it takes several sessions (20-30) to achieve long-term improvements. Unlike exercise, these effects are retained.
"Our son started school last year at the age of almost six. The changeover was difficult for him, especially sitting still and listening for long periods of time was not easy for him. At home, too, he found it difficult to concentrate on his homework, especially when it was a task that required him to repeat letters or numbers over and over again. This usually led to great frustration and a bad mood.
After about half a year, our son started school with neurofeedback in Dr. Botiger started. After about the eighth time, big changes were already noticeable. He could concentrate much better and did his homework much faster. In the meantime he has had almost 20 sessions and he no longer has any problems with his homework. Most importantly, he is no longer frustrated and is pleased with himself that he can complete his tasks so easily. He has also become much more focused in football and he also seems much more balanced in his general behavior. We can really only recommend neurofeedback. Our son always felt comfortable in the practice and by using different programs during the sessions he never found it boring." [L.Akbas]
