ADHD has many faces
For some it is loud: restlessness, impatience, you interrupt others and decide faster than you'd like. For others it is quiet: you drift off, lose the thread, your thoughts circle, and from the outside nobody notices. Women in particular often experience ADHD this way and compensate with a lot of planning and perfectionism.
And then there is hyperfocus: on a project that grips you, you work for hours, forget breaks, food and the end of the day. Routine tasks, invoices and emails pile up. Your mind can concentrate, just not on command. In the evening you are exhausted, not from the work, but from functioning.
What may lie behind it
Many people know ADHD as an innate feature of the brain. Our experience in the practice is more nuanced: there is almost always more to it. For us, ADHD is the symptom, not the cause, and we look at all the levels involved.
- The brain. It has become used to certain activity patterns that seemed helpful in childhood. What it learned then can be retrained into a more helpful pattern today.
- The nervous system. Without a safe, reliable bond with your caregivers as a child, you stay on alert: scanning the mood, jumping from stimulus to stimulus, never fully switching off. What protected you then is exhausting today.
- The family. Children sense what is unresolved in the family system and often carry it on, even as adults.
- The body. Chronic stress can throw it off balance too.
If you have lived with ADHD for a while and feel there is something else attached to it, you have come to the right place.
How we work with ADHD
There are two ways in: through the brain, with a neurofeedback assessment with Caroline, or through the body and the systemic approach with Andreas. We usually use neurofeedback as part of a combination. Depending on where the symptoms come from, it can be combined with trauma therapy with Caroline, or with family constellations and kinesiology with Andreas. We work out together what suits you in the first sessions.
Neurofeedback
see your brain activity on screen and train it · Caroline
Part of ADHD is a learned pattern: your brain is used to working in certain states, for example too tense or not alert enough. In the initial assessment we measure your brain activity (EEG) at rest and under demand. This becomes your training plan. In the sessions you get feedback in image and sound when your brain is in the desired state, and like in sport, it learns week by week until it happens more easily by itself.
Trauma therapy
EMDR, wingwave, hypnosis and TRE to bring your nervous system out of alarm · Caroline
If your nervous system has been on alarm since childhood, concentration training alone is often not enough. With EMDR or wingwave you help your brain process stressful memories so that they lose their charge. With TRE, your body releases long-held tension through natural tremoring. You learn to calm yourself, partly without words.
Family and attachment
systemic work and constellations · Andreas
As a child you adapted to your family: perhaps you took on a role, absorbed tension between your parents or carried something nobody talked about. In systemic therapy and in a family constellation, it becomes visible what of this still affects you today.
Kinesiology
muscle testing to find what throws your body out of balance · Andreas
With ADHD, the nervous system often can't switch well between tension and recovery. Then other complaints often come along: poor sleep, digestion, headaches, exhaustion, sensitivity to stimuli. With the muscle test from psycho-kinesiology we look for the connection between an emotional theme and a physical reaction.
What we don't do
We do not offer ADHD assessments or diagnoses, and we don't write prescriptions or referrals to a psychiatrist. We bill privately, not through public health insurance.
If you take medication, you can continue taking it. Whether and how it changes is decided only by your doctor.
Who works with you
We work closely together. You start with one of us and add the other side when the time is right.

Dr. Caroline Böttiger
through understanding
Heilpraktiker for psychotherapy (German licence) and neuroscientist with a doctorate from the Charité, working with neurofeedback since 2019. She shows you how your brain works and trains with you how it can come to rest.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis?
No. Whether you have a diagnosis, suspect one or simply recognise yourself: you can come as you are. We work with what you experience.
Where do I start?
With the neurofeedback assessment with Caroline: an in-depth conversation and an EEG measurement (90 minutes, €180). Or with a session with Andreas if you prefer to start through the body or already have physical complaints.
How long does it take?
Neurofeedback works best if you come once or twice a week for about 20 to 30 sessions. How much trauma therapy, constellation work or kinesiology is added depends on you.
What does it cost?
A neurofeedback session (50 minutes) costs €120, an individual session (60 minutes) also €120. Whether your private or supplementary insurance reimburses anything is best clarified with them in advance.
Is it possible online?
Neurofeedback takes place in the practice in Berlin-Mitte; accompanying sessions with Caroline also work online. We clarify what suits you in the call.
