EMDR therapy ist based on old traditional tai chi practices, has been recovered through NLP, has been restructured and modernized by other therapists and is now used in different variations
such as WingWave, EMI, MEMI or Brainspotting.
Although the exact mechanism of action of EMDR therapy cannot yet be sufficiently explained, its effectiveness has been proven in several studies. The above mentioned eye movement techniques
are very effective to treat people with trauma.
It involves linking the memory of a traumatic experience with stimulation of both hemispheres of the brain. This stimulation is achieved through rhythmic eye movements, with patients following
the therapist's moving fingers.
